02 / Beyond the subjects
Internal assessment and the core.
Alongside subjects at SL and HL, Diploma students complete internal assessments and the core, which includes the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge.
- Internal assessmentsPlanning, method and feedback on drafts, within the IB's rules on outside help.
- Extended EssayChoosing a research question, structure and sources.
- Theory of KnowledgeBuilding the essay and exhibition from your child's own subjects.
03 / Timing
The two years of the Diploma.
Most IB schools in Singapore follow an August start and sit final exams in the May session (to be confirmed). Each school sets its own deadlines within these stages; your coordinator plans lessons around your child's school calendar, internal deadlines and mock exams. It can help to start lessons when subject choices are made, or when the first internal deadlines appear.
