Academic Tutoring · Boarding school students

At boarding school,
still supported.

This page is for Singapore families whose child is at a boarding school abroad, in the UK or elsewhere. Subject specialists teach one to one, online, at times that fit the school day in your child's time zone, and reports still come to you in Singapore.

01 / How it works

Around the school week.

  • Your child's time zoneLessons are booked in the student's local time, in gaps the school allows, such as weekends or evening study time.
  • The school's calendarLessons follow the school's course, homework, mocks and exam seasons.
  • Reports to SingaporeYou receive the lesson notes and reports in Singapore, every (to be confirmed).
  • HandoverIf ELT taught your child before entry, the coordinator passes on the learning record to the new tutor.

02 / Time zones

Who teaches when.

  • Singapore and the UK

    Difference
UK is 8 hours behind Singapore (7 during British Summer Time)
  • Japan and the UK

    Difference
UK is 9 hours behind Japan (8 during British Summer Time)

For students in other countries, the coordinator chooses a tutor whose hours fit the school day.

03 / Working with the school

Alongside, not instead.

Tutoring adds to the school's teaching and does not replace it. With your permission, the coordinator can take account of reports and feedback from the school.

Some schools have rules about outside tutoring during term. We follow the school's rules (to be confirmed).
