International school entry,
one to one.
This course is for Singapore families whose child is applying to an international school in Singapore, or moving from a local school to an international one. Tutors prepare your child for the English and maths assessments and the interview schools commonly use, and bridge the curriculum so the first term at the new school is easier.

01 / Who it is for
Families choosing an international school.
- Children applying to international schools in Singapore at primary or secondary level (to be confirmed)
- Students moving from a local (MOE) school to an international school following IB, British or other curricula
- Families arriving in Singapore, or moving between international schools
02 / What we cover
Assessments and the bridge.
| # | Part | What we practise |
|---|---|---|
| English | Reading, writing and speaking at the level the year group expects, including writing to a prompt | |
| Maths | The topics the new curriculum assumes, mapped from your child's current school | |
| Reasoning | Verbal and non-verbal reasoning, where a school uses tests such as CAT4 | |
| Interview | Talking about school, interests and reading with an unfamiliar adult | |
| The bridge | Moving to IB, IGCSE or a British curriculum: the vocabulary of each subject, and the way work is set and marked |
Each school sets its own assessments, and formats change. Check with each school for its current process (to be confirmed). We do not suggest what any school's admissions standard is.
03 / How it works
Weekly, with a plan.
- Consultation and assessmentThe schools you are considering, and where your child is now in English and maths.
- A written planLessons worked back from each school's application and assessment dates.
- Weekly lessonsOne-to-one, online, with tutors in Japan (one hour ahead) or the UK, after school and at weekends in Singapore time.
- Before the assessmentPractice in the format each school uses, where it is known, and a practice interview.
- After entryThe same coordinator can continue with Academic Tutoring in the new school's curriculum.
04 / When
January or August.
Local schools in Singapore start the year in January; many international schools start in August. A child moving from a local school may be able to join part-way through the international school's year, where places allow, or wait for the new year in August. Your coordinator maps your child's current year to the year group they would join and works back from each school's dates. Some schools admit during the year when places are available (to be confirmed).
Singapore citizens of primary school age may need an exemption from the Ministry of Education to attend an international school, and international students need a Student's Pass (to be confirmed). Check with the school and the official sources below.
It can help to start a few months before the first assessment, and earlier if English or maths needs building first. We do not promise a result or a fixed length of preparation.
Who teaches.
International school entry preparation is taught by tutors whose background, subjects, tests taught and qualifications checked by ELT are shown on each profile.
