Chris 在牛津大學主修拉丁文與古希臘文，之後轉讀政治與哲學。
他曾在倫敦的廣告公司工作，後來轉職成為程式設計師，進入名古屋的一家美國公司，從事技術翻譯與英文教學。他曾任東海學園大學講師，之後取得諾丁漢大學現代語言（法文與日文）PGCE，以及卡地夫大學日本研究碩士（MPhil）學位。他回到日本擔任東海高中英語口說科主任，任教到 2023 年 3 月。他擔任 EIKEN（英檢）考官與評分員多年，教授英文寫作與修改、考試準備及商務英文。
