Course · Boarding school entry

Interview preparation,
one to one.

This course is for students in any country who have boarding school interviews, in the UK or elsewhere. A tutor rehearses the kinds of conversation schools hold — about interests, reading, school life and reasoning out loud — one to one and online, without handing your child a script.

Who it is for.

  • Students facing interviews for 11+, 13+ or 16+ entry to boarding schools in the UK or other countries
  • Students whose English is strong but who have little experience of talking about themselves and their ideas with a stranger
  • Students whose interviews will be held online across time zones

01 / What we practise

Speaking for yourself.

  • Explaining interests, books and activities in some depth
  • Reasoning out loud through an unfamiliar question or problem
  • Responding to a short passage, picture or object, where a school uses one
  • Online interview habits: camera, sound, connection and comfortable pauses

02 / How it works

Practise, then review.

  1. Opening conversationA first mock interview shows how your child responds under mild pressure.
  2. Practice sessionsDifferent interviewers and question styles, with written feedback for parents.
  3. Ahead of each interviewA session tailored to that school's format, where it is known.

When to begin.

Starting a few weeks to a few months before the first interview, alongside test preparation, often helps. Schools fix their own interview dates and times — often in UK time — and your coordinator plans sessions back from them in your time zone. We do not promise a result.

Your tutors.

Interview practice is led by tutors whose profiles list their background, the subjects and tests they teach, and the qualifications ELT has checked.

03 / Questions

Questions about interviews.

Will my child be given answers to learn?

No. Schools want to hear real thinking. We help your child express their own views clearly.

Are interviews held online or in person?

That is up to each school, so check the format with the school when the invitation arrives. We practise both.

Can you guarantee a place?

No. Admissions decisions are made by the schools.
