# University applications, with the same coordinator.

Source: https://www.eltschool.org/sg/en/courses/university-admissions

This service is for Singapore families whose child is applying to UK universities through UCAS, usually from an international school in the IB Diploma or International A-Level. We help with course choices, the personal statement, interviews and the timeline, while the same coordinator plans the school subjects the offers will depend on.

## Students applying to university.

- Students at international schools in Singapore following the IB Diploma or International A-Level
- Students at boarding schools abroad, with parents in Singapore
- Students one or two years before applying, choosing subjects with university courses in mind

## From choices to offers.

| Part | What we do | What stays with the student |
|---|---|---|
| Course and subject choices | Match school subjects to the entry requirements of the courses your child is considering | Choosing the courses |
| Timeline | A plan worked back from the UCAS deadlines for each course | Submitting the application |
| Personal statement | Planning, questions that draw out your child's own thinking, and feedback on drafts | Writing it — the statement must be the student's own work |
| References | Helping your child give the school's referee the information they need | The reference itself, written by the school |
| Interviews | Practice for universities and courses that interview | — |
| Admissions tests | Preparation only where a specialist tutor is in place (to be confirmed) | Registering and sitting the test |
| Offers | Comparing offers and planning firm and insurance choices | Accepting an offer |

Universities set their own entry requirements and deadlines. Always check [UCAS](https://www.ucas.com/) and each university's course page.

## One plan, one coordinator.

1. **Consultation**: Your child's school, subjects, predicted grades and the courses they are considering.
2. **A written plan**: Course research, the personal statement, interviews and tests, worked back from deadlines.
3. **Sessions and school subjects**: Application sessions alongside [IB](https://www.eltschool.org/sg/en/tutoring/ib) or [International A-Level](https://www.eltschool.org/sg/en/tutoring/a-level) subject lessons, if needed.
4. **Interviews and offers**: Interview practice where needed, then help comparing offers.

## A year ahead.

Many international schools in Singapore start the year in August, so the final school year and the UCAS application run side by side. It can help to start course research in the year before the final year, and the personal statement over the following summer. Applications for some courses, including Oxford, Cambridge and most medicine, close earlier than others; see [UCAS dates and deadlines](https://www.ucas.com/applying/applying-to-university/dates-and-deadlines-for-uni-applications).

See the [UCAS timeline](https://www.eltschool.org/sg/en/guides/university/ucas-timeline). We do not promise an offer or a fixed length of preparation.

## Other countries.

We start with UK universities through UCAS. Support for universities in other countries, such as the USA, will be added when tutors and processes are in place. (to be confirmed)

## Who teaches.

University application support is taught by tutors whose background, subjects, tests taught and qualifications checked by ELT are shown on each profile.

## Fees in SGD.

Subject lessons are priced per one-to-one lesson. University application support is quoted separately; see the fees page.

## About university applications.

**Will you write the personal statement?**

No. The statement must be your child's own work. We help them plan it, ask questions that draw out their thinking and give feedback on drafts.

**Do you guarantee an offer?**

No. Universities decide admissions. We prepare your child and support the application.

**Do you prepare for IELTS, TOEFL or the SAT?**

Only where a specialist tutor is in place. (to be confirmed)

**My child is at a local junior college. Can you help?**

We do not teach the MOE syllabus, including H2 A-Level. (to be confirmed)
