# ISEB Pre-Test preparation, one to one.

Source: https://www.eltschool.org/sg/en/courses/iseb-pre-test

This course is for Singapore families whose child will sit the ISEB Pre-Test, which some UK senior schools use for 13+ entry. A specialist tutor works through English, maths and verbal and non-verbal reasoning in the test's online format, and plans the timing around Singapore's January school year.

## Applicants to UK senior schools.

- Children applying to UK senior schools that ask for the Pre-Test, usually in UK Year 6 or Year 7 (to be confirmed)
- In Singapore terms, often around Primary 5 to Primary 6, depending on date of birth — see the [timeline](https://www.eltschool.org/sg/en/guides/admissions/application-timeline)

## In the test's format.

| Area | What we practise |
|---|---|
| English | Reading comprehension and the grammar and vocabulary behind it |
| Maths | Number, problem solving and the topics expected by the UK year group |
| Verbal reasoning | Word and logic question types, at pace |
| Non-verbal reasoning | Pattern and spatial question types, at pace |

The test is online and adaptive. Check the [ISEB](https://www.iseb.co.uk/) and each school for current details.

## Weekly, with a plan.

1. **Assessment**: A first lesson shows where your child is now in each part of the Pre-Test.
2. **Weekly lessons**: One-to-one, online, with tutors in Japan (one hour ahead) or the UK, after school and at weekends in Singapore time.
3. **Records and reports**: A written note after each lesson and a report to parents every (to be confirmed).
4. **Before the exam**: Timed practice in the format, and a final review with your coordinator.

## Timing from Singapore.

Schools set their own Pre-Test windows, often about two years before 13+ entry (to be confirmed). Because Singapore's local year starts in January and UK years start in September, your coordinator works out which UK year group your child belongs to before planning lessons.

Where Singapore students sit the test is (to be confirmed).

## Who teaches.

ISEB Pre-Test preparation is taught by tutors whose background, subjects, tests taught and qualifications checked by ELT are shown on each profile.

## Fees in SGD.

Lessons are priced per one-to-one lesson. Mock tests are listed separately on the fees page.

## About the Pre-Test.

**Can my child retake the Pre-Test?**

(to be confirmed)

**Do you guarantee a pass or a place?**

No. Schools decide admissions.
