Source: https://www.eltschool.org/intl/en/tutoring/maths

For families outside Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan and Japan whose child follows an international or British curriculum. A specialist tutor teaches one to one, online, building secure methods and exam technique in step with the school's order of topics.

Courses we follow: UK Key Stages 2–3 · IGCSE / GCSE · IB MYP and Diploma · A-Level (International and UK) · AP

## The courses we follow.

| Course | What lessons work on |
|---|---|
| UK Key Stages 2–3 | Number, algebra, geometry and reasoning, including the maths in school entrance tests |
| IGCSE / GCSE | Core and Extended (Cambridge) or Foundation and Higher (Pearson Edexcel and UK boards), and Additional Mathematics where the school offers it |
| IB MYP and Diploma | MYP mathematics; in the Diploma, Analysis and Approaches, and Applications and Interpretation, at SL and HL, with the internal assessment |
| A-Level (International and UK) | Pure maths, statistics and mechanics; Further Mathematics on request (to be confirmed) |
| AP | AP Calculus and AP Statistics (to be confirmed) |

Lessons follow international and British curricula. We do not teach national school syllabuses or national university entrance exams.

- Probability and statistics
- Setting out working clearly and using the calculator efficiently

## A weekly rhythm, written down.

1. **First lesson**: The tutor checks your child's current level against the school's scheme of work and the dates of the next exams.
2. **Regular lessons**: One to one and online, booked in your child's local time zone after school or at the weekend.
3. **Notes for parents**: A short written note after every lesson, and a fuller report every (to be confirmed).
4. **Before exams**: Lessons move to past papers, timed answers and revision ahead of mocks and final exams.

## Who teaches.

Maths is taught by subject specialists. Each tutor profile shows their subjects, the courses they teach and the qualifications ELT has checked.

## Maths lessons: common questions.

**Does the tutor follow the methods taught at school?**

Yes. The tutor works from your child's course and exam board, so methods and notation match what the school expects.

**Can you help with the IB Maths internal assessment?**

Yes: finding a manageable topic, the mathematics behind it and comments on drafts, within the IB's rules on outside help.

**Can maths lessons be part of entrance test preparation?**

Yes. For a move to a UK boarding school, maths usually sits inside one [boarding school preparation](https://www.eltschool.org/intl/en/courses/boarding-school-preparation) plan.
