# Chemistry for international curricula.

Source: https://www.eltschool.org/intl/en/tutoring/chemistry

For families outside Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan and Japan whose child studies chemistry on an international or British curriculum. A specialist tutor teaches one to one, online, from bonding and structure through to calculations and longer written answers.

Courses we follow: IGCSE / GCSE · IB MYP and Diploma · A-Level (International and UK) · AP

## The courses we follow.

| Course | What lessons work on |
|---|---|
| IGCSE / GCSE | Chemistry as a separate science and within combined or double-award science |
| IB MYP and Diploma | MYP sciences; in the Diploma, Chemistry at SL and HL, with the internal assessment |
| A-Level (International and UK) | AS and A Level Chemistry, including practical skills |
| AP | AP Chemistry (to be confirmed) |

Lessons follow international and British curricula. We do not teach national school syllabuses or national university entrance exams.

## Where families often start.

- Structure, bonding and the periodic table
- Mole calculations
- Organic reactions and mechanisms
- Rates, equilibrium and energy changes

## A weekly rhythm, written down.

1. **First lesson**: The tutor checks your child's current level against the school's scheme of work and the dates of the next exams.
2. **Regular lessons**: One to one and online, booked in your child's local time zone after school or at the weekend.
3. **Notes for parents**: A short written note after every lesson, and a fuller report every (to be confirmed).
4. **Before exams**: Lessons move to past papers, timed answers and revision ahead of mocks and final exams.

## Who teaches.

Chemistry is taught by subject specialists. Each tutor profile shows their subjects, the courses they teach and the qualifications ELT has checked.

## Chemistry lessons: common questions.

**How is practical work handled in online lessons?**

Tutors work on planning experiments, analysing results and evaluating methods. The experiments themselves are done at school.

**Can the same tutor continue from IGCSE into IB or A-Level?**

Yes, where the tutor teaches both. Either way, the coordinator carries the record over to the next stage.
