# Choosing and applying, with teaching alongside.

Source: https://www.eltschool.org/intl/en/courses/school-applications

This service is for families in any country choosing and applying to boarding schools, in the UK or elsewhere. Your coordinator helps you build a shortlist, keep applications on track and prepare to join, while the same team prepares your child for entrance tests and interviews.

## From shortlist to first term.

| Stage | What we do | What remains your decision |
|---|---|---|
| Shortlist | Suggest schools that suit your child, and say which are partner schools | Where to apply |
| Applications | Timeline, forms and a checklist of documents (to be confirmed) | Signing forms and paying school fees |
| Tests and interviews | Preparation through [boarding school preparation](https://www.eltschool.org/intl/en/courses/boarding-school-preparation) and [interview practice](https://www.eltschool.org/intl/en/courses/interview) | — |
| Offers | Comparing offers and planning next steps | Accepting an offer |
| Joining | Information on uniform, travel, visas and guardianship, and a list of guardianship providers | Choosing a guardian and applying for a visa |

## Referral fees, in plain terms.

When a student we introduced enrols at a partner school, ELT may receive a referral fee from that school. We tell you which of the schools we suggest are partners.

A referral fee does not affect the order in which schools are suggested. Schools that are not partners are put forward in the same way whenever they suit your child.

Guardianship: ELT does not act as a guardian or arrange guardians itself. We share a list of providers for you to choose from, and tell you if any of them pays us a referral fee.

## Applying from your country.

Visa rules, school-year dates and the documents schools ask for differ depending on your nationality and where you live. We point you to the official sources, such as the UK Government's guidance on student visas, but visa applications and legal advice remain with you and the relevant authorities.

Meetings with your coordinator are held online at times arranged in your time zone.

## Your tutors.

Test and interview preparation alongside applications is led by tutors whose profiles list their background, the subjects and tests they teach, and the qualifications ELT has checked.

## Fees in USD.

Lessons are charged per one-to-one lesson. Application support is charged separately from lessons. (to be confirmed)

## Questions about applications.

**Which countries' schools do you cover?**

We begin with UK boarding schools and also support schools in other countries. See [schools by country](https://www.eltschool.org/intl/en/boarding-schools).

**Can you help with international schools in our own country?**

Not as a dedicated course in this section, because entry depends on each local school. (to be confirmed)

**Do you help with university applications?**

That is a separate service. See [university admissions](https://www.eltschool.org/intl/en/courses/university-admissions).

**Can you guarantee an offer?**

No. Admissions decisions are made by the schools.

**Can we use application support without lessons?**
