# Choosing and applying, with the lessons behind it.

This service is for Hong Kong families applying to boarding schools in the UK or another country, or to international schools in Hong Kong. Your coordinator helps you build a shortlist, plan the timeline and complete each application, while your child's tutor prepares the tests and interviews. We receive referral fees from some partner schools; we always tell you which, and it does not change the order in which we suggest schools.

## From shortlist to enrolment.

1. **Shortlist**: Boarding or international schools that fit your child's level, interests and the places you are considering, each marked as a partner school or not.
2. **Timeline**: Registration, tests, interviews and offers, worked back from Hong Kong's school year.
3. **Applications**: Forms, personal statements written by your child with our feedback, and school reports. (to be confirmed)
4. **Tests and interviews**: Prepared in one-to-one lessons by your child's tutor.
5. **Offers and enrolment**: Comparing offers and the steps after acceptance.

## How we are paid, stated plainly.

Some partner schools pay ELT a referral fee when a family we have supported enrols. We tell you which schools on your shortlist are partners.

Whether a school pays a referral fee does not change the order in which we suggest schools. We suggest schools that are not partners in the same way when they suit your child. The same applies to guardianship providers.

## Guardians and welfare.

Guardianship applies when your child boards abroad. Many UK boarding schools ask overseas families to appoint a guardian, and other countries have their own rules for students under 18. ELT does not act as guardian. We give you a list of guardianship providers — with any accreditation they hold — so that you can choose, and we tell you if we receive a referral fee from any of them.

## About applications.

**Do you only support UK schools?**

No. We support applications in any country. Where we lack particular expertise for a country, we say so in the consultation.

**Can you guarantee an offer?**

No. Schools decide admissions.

**Do you support applications to international schools in Hong Kong?**
